Peak Design Launches New Kickstarter Campaign Completing Their Tripod Line With Pro Tripods

After just completing their Roller Pro Kickstarter Campaign, Peak Design is back with another one! This time, it's a new set of tripods to go along with their Travel Tripod...the Pro Tripods and is available to back on Kickstarter.

Based on the groundbreaking architecture of Peak Design’s original award-winning Travel Tripod, Pro Tripod is scaled-up to offer significantly greater stiffness and deployment height. It also offers pro features like fluid panning, video support, and fully CNC-machined aluminum hardware, as well as meticulously engineered refinements to every single lever, knob, and touchpoint.

Pro Tripod will be available in 3 size variants (Lite / Pro / Tall) to meet a broad range of shooting needs and preferences. Combined with the Travel Tripod, Peak Design now has a full tripod line, with a compelling premium solution for everyone in the hobbyist, prosumer, and professional.

Product Overview:
  • Pro Tripod: Professional-grade tripod with the stability and features pros need, but still portable enough to carry anywhere.
  • Pro Tripod Tall: Variant of Pro Tripod with elongated legs for a taller deploy height. For users who prefer taller deployment, either because they are taller, or because they want maximum stability with heavier rigs by not deploying the center column. Longer packed length than Pro Tripod and slightly heavier.
  • Pro Lite Tripod: Same head as Pro Tripod, but with the legs, hub, and center column scaled down for greater portability. For users willing to sacrifice a little stability for a little more packability. Packs down skinnier and slightly shorter than Pro Tripod, weighs slightly less. Still significantly stronger, stiffer, larger, and heavier than Travel Tripod.
  • Tilt Mod (sold separately): Instantly convert your Pro Tripod ball head into a fluid pan/tilt head for capturing ultra-smooth pro-quality video. Capture photo and video in a single shoot without lugging extra gear or interrupting your workflow
  • Pro Leveling Base (sold separately): Combine the portability and stability of our carbon fiber Pro Tripod legs with the functionality of your own dedicated pro video head, gimbal, geared head, 3-way head, and more. Quickly level it on uneven terrain without the need to adjust your legs.
  • Pro Lite/Spike Feet: Set of 3 stainless steel spike feet. Pro set fits Pro & Pro Tall models, Pro Lite fits only Pro Lite model. Achieve superior stability and grip when shooting with Pro Tripod or Pro Tall Tripod on slippery or loose terrain.
Features:
  • Massive stability upgrade. All pro, still no bulk. Scaled-up and precision-tuned to handle heavy pro rigs in the most demanding environments, Pro Tripod features stronger legs, an all-CNC-machined hub, and a flanged center column for maximum stability and weight capacity (40lb). Yet it still fits in your backpack.
  • Totally overhauled & refined Pro Ball Head with fluid panning. Integrated fluid panning. An upgraded cinch ring for more stability than ever. Added safety toggle for total security. 15-degrees of adjustment even when the center column is fully stowed. Use the new Tilt Mod accessory to instantly convert to a full fluid pan/tilt video head.
  • Faster, more secure camera connection. The redesigned Arca-compatible camera quick-lock grips your camera faster, tighter, and more effortlessly.
  • Revamped leg cams for even faster setup and pack-down + easier maintenance. A hallmark feature of the Travel Tripod, the aluminum leg locking cams have been reengineered for smoother, faster, and stronger operation. Plus they’re significantly easier to disassemble for cleaning and maintenance.
  • New ergonomic angle adjusters. New CNC-machined leg angle adjusters have smooth and satisfying push-button operation and lie flush when packed down.
  • Fully integrated hex tool + mobile mount. Includes our iconic collapsible phone mount, plus a new folding hex multitool, both designed to stow inside the center column.
  • Upgraded protective carry sleeve. The redesigned carry sleeve features a weatherproof shell, padded construction, and an integrated adjustable carry strap.

Press Release: Peak Design Adds to their Outdoor Line with New Backpacks, Slings and Accessories

Peak Design Elevates ISPO Award-Winning Outdoor Line with Additional Carry Options
New Outdoor Backpack 18L and Outdoor Sling 4L add versatility to the adventure-ready lineup

San Francisco, CA (June, 6th, 2025) – Peak Design, a global leader in outdoor and everyday carry solutions, is excited to welcome the addition of new backpacks, slings and accessories to its award-winning Outdoor Line. Debuted on Kickstarter in October 2024 ($3.5M raised), the Outdoor Line prioritizes effortless access, modular organization and comfort for every body type. The newest add-ons–available for immediate purchase via PeakDesign.com and Peak Design retail partners worldwide–bolster these attributes, priming the Peak Design Outdoor Line for summer adventures both on-trail and off.

Peak Design’s Outdoor Line was developed to solve common carrying issues like poor fit, overly-bulky harness systems, limited access, and over-engineered ‘technically baroque’ designs. Originally Consisting of 2 Outdoor Backpacks (45L/25L), 2 Outdoor Slings (7L/2L) and an ecosystem of Packing Tools for clothes, gear and photography equipment, the Outdoor Line injected new thought into the saturated outdoor carry category and garnered top-tier recognition with a 2024 Design Award from ISPO.

New for this retail release, the 18L Backpack, 4L Sling, and accessories like the Helmet Carry Harness and Rain Fly bring added protection, lighter carry options, and seamless integration with Peak Design’s modular ecosystem.

Most notable amongst these additions is the Outdoor Backpack 18L (MSRP: $189.95)–Peak Design’s smallest and lightest backpack to date. Equally suited for day hikes, golden-hour photoshoots, and urban commuting, the 18L Outdoor Backpack maintains the same comfort-elevating harness system and running-vest inspired shoulder straps as its 25L and 45L predecessors but has been slimmed down with fewer external pockets and a single internal access point via a 270-degree rear zip. Sleek, simple, and 20% lighter than the Outdoor Backpack 25L, the Outdoor Backpack 18L still integrates with Peak Design’s Smedium and small sized Ultra-Light Packing Cubes and Camera Cubes. New Outdoor Line offerings also include the Outdoor Sling 4L, Helmet Carry Harness and Rain Fly 15L-20L.

The Outdoor Sling 4L (MSRP: $74.95) represents a perfect middle ground between the ultra-compact Outdoor Sling 2L and the more spacious Outdoor Sling 7L. Maintaining the identical features of the other Outdoor Slings–comfortable padded strap, and custom-hardware that allows for ultra-fast conversion from sling to waist bag–the Outdoor Sling 4L is perfect for daily essentials and minimalist excursions.

For burlier missions, the Helmet Carry Harness (sold separately) quickly and securely holds a bike, climbing or ski/snowboard helmet on the outside of any Peak Design Outdoor Line, Travel Line or Everyday Backpack, and the new Rain Fly 15-20L adds peace-of-mind against the elements when carrying the Outdoor Backpack 18L and a variety of Peak Design’s popular Everyday Backpacks (15L-20L).

“Our Outdoor Line offers the comfort, access and modularity we found lacking in other outdoor focused bags we’ve carried throughout the years,” commented Peter Dering, Peak Design Founder and CEO. “We were elated by the outcome of the Original Outdoor Line but the addition of the Outdoor Backpack 18L, Outdoor Sling 4L and accompanying accessories make the Outdoor Line feel truly complete.”

Peak Design’s Outdoor Line with add-ons will launch direct-to-consumer via PeakDesign.com and Peak Design Retailers world-wide on June 6th, 2025.
