Designed to excel at night and in extreme low-light situations, this new NIKKOR lens sports a diverse feature set and optical design that make it a dependable and versatile option for daytime portraits, nighttime cityscapes or sharp HD video with a dramatic depth of field. Paying homage to the acclaimed original Noct NIKKOR 58mm f/1.2 lens, the AF-S NIKKOR 58mm f/1.4G lens is capable of capturing stunning photos and videos while achieving beautiful bokeh effects.

“With the development of every NIKKOR lens, Nikon aims to provide photographers with the powerful and versatile lensing options needed to capture stunning images and HD video in a variety of difficult shooting scenarios,” said Masahiro Horie, Director of Marketing and Planning, Nikon Inc. “Combining Nikon’s storied NIKKOR legacy with renowned optical technologies, the AF-S NIKKOR 58mm f/1.4G lens presents the premier prime lensing option for FX and DX-format shooters who expect the best in low-light performance.”

Optimized for elite performance in even the most challenging low-light scenarios, the AF-S NIKKOR 58mm f/1.4G sports a unique 58mm (87mm DX-format equivalent) fixed focal length, making it ideal for shooting both flattering portraits, landscapes and street photography. Both FX-format and DX-format shooters will appreciate a wide and fast f/1.4 aperture that helps to ensure professional-grade photos and edge-to-edge sharpness, combined with overwhelming rendering performance. Even while focusing at infinity, the lens’ high resolving power has the ability to process distant subjects with amazing clarity. Press Release: Sony Announces A7 & A7R Full-Frame Mirrorless Cameras

Sony has announced the A7 and A7R, both of which are mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras. What makes these new cameras different from the rest of them is that they each feature full-frame sensor. That makes these the smallest, lightest full-frame cameras with swappable lenses to boast full-frame power, and with a 36.4 megapixel sensor on the A7R, and a 24.3 megapixel one in the A7.

The new Sony A7R also omit an optical low pass filter, which results in better resolution and detail rendering. Both of these new cameras have a new BIONZ X processor, a hybrid AF system that uses both phase and contrast detection for quicker focus, an OLED Tru-Finder hybrid optical viewfinder and a 3-inch rear screen that can be tilted.

Both camera models also has NFC and Wi-Fi for easy pairing and direct transfer of photos to devices, with dust- and moisture-resistant magnesium alloy cases. They take a new full-frame E-mount lens, of which Sony will release five in time for launch, and they also work backwards with standard E-mount lenses designed for the NEX series, albeit with some cropping. There will also be an adapter for Sony’s A-mount lenses, which work with their non-mirrorless DSLR range.

The A7R and A7 will both go on sale in December, for $2,300 and $1,700 for body-only, respectively. There will also be kits available with some of the new lenses.

Press Release: Nikon Announces D610 Camera

Nikon has just announced a replacement to the D600 in the way of a D610. If you haven't heard, D600 has issues with oil on the sensors. However, Nikon has not officially acknowledged the issue but is this Nikon's way of admitting there was an issue? Maybe, but Nikon has put out a press release in the past stating they will repair anyones D600 that has issues.

So what has changed from the D600 to the D610? Honestly nothing major with the exception of hopefully fixing the oil issue on the sensor. It is still the same sensor and focusing system but it now does shoot a half of a second faster at 6fps vs 5fps, it also has an improved shutter mechanism, new quiet continuous shooting options and improved white balance.

This camera is for anyone who is looking to jump into full frame without breaking the bank. The D610 is just under $2,000 (body only). If you go full frame, you'll definitely need to focus on using better glass to take advantage of the full frame sensor.

The D610 will start shipping on October 18, 2013. You can purchase the D610 from the following retailers:

Nikon D610 body only: Amazon | B&H Photo | Adorama

The large 24.3-megapixel FX-format (35.9 x 24mm) CMOS sensor is capable of creating low-noise images with amazing dynamic range, clarity and precise color, even in challenging light. No matter the type of photography, from landscapes to wildlife, portraits to sports, the Nikon D610 excels, delivering stellar sharpness, superior handling, and the ability to enjoy the full resolution benefits of a wide variety of NIKKOR glass. Image quality and performance are further bolstered with the aid of Nikon’s EXPEED 3 image processing engine, which helps to provide vivid colors and an exceptionally broad tonal range while quickly processing image data transfer from capture to card. Additionally, EXPEED 3 contributes to surprising energy efficiency for all-day shooting.

Serious Performance for the Advanced Photographer
Whether capturing an awe-inspiring vista at the golden hour, or portraits that absolutely have to flatter, the swift response and advanced feature set will appeal to a wide range of users. From Nikon core technologies to thoughtfully laid-out controls, the robust and innovative feature set of this D-SLR will satisfy even the most demanding enthusiast.

Low-Light Performance: A wide ISO range helps the user master any lighting challenge. From a clean ISO 100 to a versatile 6,400 (25,600, Hi-2), the D610 provides minimal noise and maximum confidence.

39-Point AF System and Scene Recognition System: Users can select single point, continuous, dynamic or 3D autofocus modes to adapt to any shooting situation from static subjects to dynamic athletics. The Nikon D610’s 39-point AF system quickly acquires focus throughout the frame, even on fast moving subjects. For further accuracy, the system uses Nikon’s exclusive 3D Color Matrix Metering II 2016 pixel RGB Sensor in conjunction with the Scene Recognition System to analyze the scene and adjust exposure, white balance and focus. The resulting images display a more balanced exposure, precise sharpness and accurate color. Furthermore, the D610 utilizes nine cross-type sensors, seven of which retain AF ability up to f/8, a true boon to wildlife and sports photographers who rely on teleconverters for maximum distance.

New Improved Automatic White Balance (AWB): With an updated AWB algorithm, users can capture more vivid skies, and more natural-appearing reproduction of artificial light than ever before. Additionally, more natural skin tones can be captured, rendering faces with a more three-dimensional appearance.

New Increased Speed and Performance: A new shutter mechanism in the D610 affords a faster frame rate. Users can now capture the action at a continuous 6 frames-per-second (fps), which is ideal for photographing action sports or elusive wildlife.

New Quiet Continuous Shutter Mode: Ideal for weddings and other sensitive events, the D610 features a new Quiet Continuous Shutter Mode. When selected via the main command dial, users can shoot discreetly at up to 3 fps.

100% Frame Coverage and 3.2-inch High Resolution LCD: Shoot all day comfortably and compose easily through the wide and bright optical viewfinder, which offers 100% frame coverage. Additionally, the high-resolution 921K dot, 3.2-inch LCD screen is viewable from a wide variety of angles making it easy to compose, review and share.

Unleash Creativity with Advanced Modes: With a wide variety of creative modes designed for enthusiasts, users can continue to express themselves in new, creative ways. A series of images with multiple exposures can be combined with built-in HDR, while users can explore their inner artist with an automatic Time Lapse Mode, or the intervalometer found in all advanced Nikon D-SLR’s. To adjust color, saturation and other image parameters on the fly, Picture Controls can be applied to both stills and HD video.

Dual SD Memory Card Slots: The Nikon D610 accepts two SD memory cards, which users can set to copy and overflow, or mark as one dedicated video when shooting multimedia. Additionally, the D610 accepts blazing-fast and high capacity SDXC and UHS cards.

Full High Definition Capabilities: Capture stunning Full 1080P HD video in a variety of frame rates, including a cinematic 24p and 30p. A useful feature inherited from professional Nikon cameras, the Nikon D610 can feed 100% full screen, uncompressed video via HDMI to an external device such as a monitor or digital recorder. Additionally, a stereo microphone and headphones can be connected through thoughtfully placed auxiliary input jacks for capturing and monitoring audio.

Share a Stellar Shot Instantly: When using the optional WU-1b Wireless Mobile Adapter1, unbelievable images can be shared directly to a compatible smart mobile device such as a phone or tablet. Users can then share these images with friends and family through their own social networks or photo sharing applications.

Robust Construction: The Nikon D610 is sealed and gasketed, with dust and moisture resistance of the same caliber as the Nikon D800. The top and rear covers of the camera are made of magnesium alloy for maximum durability, while the shutter unit is tested to 150,000 cycles.

NIKKOR, Speedlight and System Compatibility
The Nikon D610 is compatible with a wide variety of NIKKOR Lenses, allowing users to truly realize a lens’ potential with an FX-format camera. For eighty years, photographers have come to rely on Nikon’s heritage of optical excellence for lenses that deliver the pinnacle of optical quality. Additionally, the Nikon D610 is fully compatible with Nikon’s Creative Lighting (CLS) System, and can act as a Commander to control up to two groups of Speedlights, in-camera.

New Yongnuo Triggers & Flashes "Fully Compatible" with Canon RT System

Yongnuo has announced the first third-party flashgun and trigger compatible with the Canon 2.4GHz E-TTL system. The YN-E3-RT is an aftermarket flash trigger pitched by the Chinese manufacturer as an alternative to Canon’s own ST-E3-RT. A compatible flash modeled on the Canon 600EX-RT, the YN600EX-RT, will follow.

“I am excited to share our new flagship trigger product,” said Yongnuo’s Guanchao Liang. “It’s the YN-E3-RT, which is fully compatible with Canon’s RT technology.”

"We will release a flash, the YN600EX-RT, which is fully compatible with RT technology later," he added.

The YN-E3-RT sits on top of the camera and has a large LCD screen, providing the ability to review and adjust settings for different remote flashes — 600EX-RTs or YN600EX-RTs — without the photographer having to walk away from the camera position. Unlike infrared-based flash control systems, the radio signals can go round corners and work more reliably in bright sunlight.

The triggers are equipped with USB ports, allowing the user to install future firmware updates. They will also have a built-in autofocus (AF) assist lamp and "other useful features". We expect the flash to support E-TTL and manual control and high-speed sync (HSS).

It is not compatible — wirelessly — with the Yongnuo YN-622 line of triggers, but there is more news coming soon for current YN-622 users. "Don't be disappointed," said Mr. Liang.

Canon first released its radio triggering system last year, made up of the Speedlite 600EX-RT, a radio-controlled flashgun, and the Speedlite Transmitter ST-E3-RT, a camera-top control unit. Until now, these have been the only devices compatible with the technology, though other companies have produced equivalent mutually incompatible systems running on proprietary frequencies.

Photographers put off by Canon's prices might be tempted by the new (presumably) cheaper option, though it remains to be seen how much money they will save or whether the devices are reliable enough to be worth going with a third party. Yongnuo has not yet published prices or an exact release date.
