Quality/Usability : Everyone these days has a digital point and shoot camera. We either use a camera strap (neck or wrist), a carry case or both. However, when we need our hands to be free to do something, we either have to put the camera down, put it away or just fumble and drop our cameras while trying to put it away. Even with a hand strap, the camera dangles and will bang around knocking things.

What if there was a way to let it dangle, put it away without fear of dropping it and still be able to use our hands freely? BlackRapid has the perfect product for you. The BlackRapid SnapR 20. The SnapR is a 3-in-1 bag which consists of a bag, sling strap and a hand strap.

First, lets talk about the bag itself. The bag fits cameras up to 5.25" x 3.25" x 2" which is pretty much majority of them on the market. It's made of durable nylon material and has a removable shoulder strap. The strap has a thin comfortable shoulder pad that is also removable. The shape of this pad accommodates both left and right shoulders and has a rubber lining on the underside to prevent slipping. The bottom of the bag also has a rubber lining. The opening where you place the camera inside is not your typical zipper opening from the top of the bag. Instead, its on the side...not where pocket compartments usually are but under the one end of the shoulder straps. There is however a pocket on each side of the bag to hold your passport, ID, money, phone, memory cards, etc. Also included are 2 mini BUCK versions for the clips for the strap. These prevent unwanted thieves or pranksters from unclipping the clips causing your bag to far or even be stolen.

Included is a stainless steel fastener known as the FastenR-SnapR that attaches to the tripod socket on the bottom of your camera. This is similar to the the FastenR-3 for bigger cameras but a smaller version. To attach the FastenR to the camera, simply twist it on until its tight. It's that simple. The FastenR-SnapR has a loop that allows you to thread a male buckle strap to which then connects to a female buckle that is attached to the strap of the shoulder strap on the camera bag. With this configuration, it allows you to let the camera hang down without the fear of dropping it or holding it when you don't need to. When you need to take a picture, simply grab the camera, slide it up and snap your picture.

Now on to the sling strap. The sling strap is what makes the SnapR stand out from the rest of the camera bags. The SnapR allows you to take the shoulder strap off the bag and connect both ends of the clip together to make one round strap. The concept is the same as the above configuration but this time, no bag in the way. Its just the shoulder strap and camera. This now acts like a strap similar to the more popular RS-4, RS-5, RS-7 and RS-Sport.

Lastly, if you feel the need to have a little more freedom, there is always the hand strap. Yes, can use the hand strap that came with your camera but why have two straps hanging from your camera? To convert to the hand strap, simply unbuckle your camera from the shoulder strap and attach it to the wrist strap that is included with the SnapR. Once you're done, unbuckle the wrist strap and store it inside the bag. However, with the FastenR-SnapR attached, you're unable to stand the camera up. You'll have no choice but to lay the camera flat either lens down or LCD down. But if you must have the camera standing up, simply untwist the FastenR from the camera. The wrist strap has a buckle that slides to tighten and loosens around your wrist. What I did not like about this method is that it can be a little hard to tighten and loosen since you're doing it with one hand. A good substitute if possible would be using a bumper that is found on R-Straps.

I took the bag to Medieval Times to celebrate my birthday with my friends. I took along my Canon PoweShot SD1000 point-and-shoot digital camera. With the camera and bag, it was very comfortable. I barely noticed the bag was on me. The SD1000 measures approximately 3.5" x 2" x 0.75" and there is still a lot of room inside the camera bag. Taking the camera out of the bag was very easy and I was able to do it with one hand while the other was holding my drink. The arena can get dark at times and I was able to get the camera out when needed. Even just letting the camera hang was perfect. I didn't have to fiddle with getting the camera out. We took a group picture with our knight (GO BIG RED!) and I had to hand my camera off to a staff. A simple detach of the clip was a cinch and no need to hand off the entire bag.

All BlackRapid straps are compatible with all cameras whether they are digital SLR's, point-and-shoot or video cameras whether its a Nikon, Canon, Panasonic, Fuji, Sony, Casio, JVC, Kodak, Pentax and many others. So as long it has a tripod mount at the bottom of the camera, it will work.

Conclusion : Overall, the BlackRapid SnapR 20 Point and Shoot Camera Bag Strap is a must have for all point and shoot camera owners. I've ditched the included wrist strap that came with the camera. I even feel bad for the camera case that I bought separately to the side since it has been replaced with the SnapR. I'm sure I can find a use for that camera case...or maybe not. The SnapR is perfect for friend and family functions, vacations or even a nice stroll through the park. It doesn't get in the way and it feels comfortable on the shoulders. The build quality and craftsmanship is top-notch.

If you have a bigger point and shoot where it has swappable lenses or where the lens sticks out and doesn't retract, BlackRapid recently released a bigger midsized SnapR known as the SnapR 35. This new bag fits cameras up to 6" x 3.75" x 3.5.
