Quality/Usability : The LensPen has been around for quite some time but I only purchased it because it came in a bundle when I purchased a Giottos Rocket Air Blaster Blower (review of this coming soon). Prior to the LensPen, I always used a microfiber cleaning cloth to clean my lens. Although it worked, I was always afraid of any small particles that didn't come off, might scratch my lens.

The LensPens works wonders! It takes off oil, smudges and fingerprints without using much effort. The LensPen has two sides; cleaning tip and retractable brush. The retractable brush is to clean off any dust or small particles. When cleaning, I always have the lens facing down. This is so that any particles will fall down. The cleaning tip is the main attraction. It removes smudges that a microfiber cloth wouldn't. On one of my lenses, it had oily smudges. Every time I tried to wipe it clean, it got worse or moved to a different spot. With the LensPen, it removed it all and left no smudges.

To use the LensPen, take off the cap and rub the tip of the pen in a circular motion all around the lens. If the fingerprint or smudge is still there, go over that area until its gone or breathe gently and clean it again. Underneath the cap, there is a foam pad filled with carbon that recharges the cleaning tip. To clean the tip, simply place the cover back on and twist the cap back and forth a couple of times. This will clean the tip and ready for your next use.

Carbon is found in printers ink which is found in newspapers. Did you know that you can even use newspapers to clean windows? It leaves no smudges and it's better than paper towels.

Conclusion : Overall, the LensPen Lens Cleaning with Retractable Soft Brush Pen. This is a MUST own for any photographer or videographer especially when it costs under $10. The LensPen is an investment when it comes to protecting your expensive lenses and priceless pictures. This is my go to cleaning when it comes to my lenses but I use the occasional microfiber if the lens is really dirty and I don't want to ruin the LensPen.

The LensPen is sold under different brand names but still has LensPen on it. However, there are fakes and imitations out there. Here are a few ways to tell if they are fake or real:
  • LensPen and DigiKlear pens have “LensPen” inscribed in the Top of the cap.
  • On the rear side of every backcard is written “Distributed under the Authority of Parkside Optical Inc. Vancouver, Canada”.
